Date published: 04 August 2010

A cannabis farm has been found in a drugs warrant in Rochdale.

Just before 8.45am this morning (Wednesday 4 August 2010), police raided a house on St Martin's Street, Castleton.

Officers found 209 cannabis plants in the front and rear bedroom, with cannabis cultivating equipment.

It was also discovered that electricity was being stolen.

Sergeant Shoheb Chowdhury of Rochdale South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "This is another good example of the work we are doing to rid the area of drugs.

"We have managed to take a large amount of cannabis out of circulation, which is a great result for both the community and the police.

"I would ask anyone in the local community who may have concerns about the sale of drugs to please call us as we will always take appropriate action on the information we receive."

A 72-year-old man was given a caution for possession of cannabis.

A 45-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

They remain in police custody for questioning.

Anyone with information should call Rochdale South Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 8549 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
