The British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for information following a robbery at Littleborough railway station on Wednesday 21 July 2010.

Detective Constable Arif Hussain, the investigating officer, said the victim, a 24-year- old man from Manchester was waiting on the platform for the Manchester bound service when he was approached by two men:

“Around 9.40pm, the victim was alone on the platform when one of the men approached and attempted to shake hands with him.

“As the victim went to shake his hand, the man punched him several times in the face, knocking him to the floor.

“Both men then kicked and punched the victim about the head and body before stealing his mobile phone, bank cards, and £40 in cash.”

After the attack the two men made off away from the station and headed towards Littleborough town centre.

DC Hussain added: “We are making enquiries and are keen to speak to two women who were on the opposite platform at the time, as well as the man who assisted the victim after the attack.”

The men are described as both being white, about 5’10” tall and aged around 20-25 years old. Both men were also described as having white hair.
