Man charged with New Year's Day rape

A man has been arrested in Preston and charged with the rape of a Rochdale woman.
Ali Hassan Poor, 24, of no fixed abode has been charged with the rape which happened shortly after 2am on New Years Day 2008.
A police spokesperson said: “Police were called to a house on Buckley View, Smallbridge, following reports a 30-year-old woman had been raped.”
Poor was arrested by police in Preston in relation to a sexual assault which happened on Saturday 26 June this year (2010) close to the Flag Market in the city.
He has been charged with attempted rape and sexual assault in relation to the Preston incident.
He is due to appear at Preston Magistrates Court today (Friday 30 July 2010).
