Co-op band perform in Milnrow
Date published: 26 July 2010
The Milnrow Working Men’s Club was host to the Co-operative Milnrow Band this weekend (Sunday 25 July 2010).
The band played to an appreciative audience in the newly refurbished concert room of the club.
They performed a programme of music guaranteed to appeal to both the young and old under the direction of John Binns.
15-year-old trombone player, Chris Binns, played ‘Swing Low Sweet Chariot’ to the crowd.
Milnrow Band President Ken Watts said: “It is hard to believe that at 15 years old Chris shows such expertise, but remember he ably leads the trombone section of this young Championship Section Band.
Solo Euphonium player, Adam Snape, showed off his skill when playing "Grandfather Clock".
Mr Watts spoke of his talent: “Adam, a young graduate of Royal Northern College of Music captivated the audience with his dexterity on this most difficult piece, he is a great asset to the band, and has been for several years now.”
Mr Watts added: “Co-operative Milnrow Band heartily thank near neighbours Milnrow Working Men’s Club, its Entertainments Co-ordinator Mike Cunningham and the Club Committee for creating such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.”
