Date published: 21 July 2010

Robbers hit a man with a brick during a violent street robbery.

At about 3.45pm on Thursday 15 July 2010, the 29-year-old victim was riding his bike down an alleyway off Egerton Street, Heywood, when offenders grabbed his rucksack, pulling him off the bike.

As he hit the floor the robbers started punching and kicking him, before one of them picked up a brick and hit him over the head with it several times.

They then stole a number of items, including a necklace, bracelet and watch before running off.

The victim suffered cuts to his head and face and was left shocked by what happened.

The offenders were white, in their early 20s, about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, and wearing grey hoodies.

Detective Constable Julian Peach of the Rochdale volume crime team, said: "This victim is fortunate not to be more seriously injured.

"I want to reassure everyone we are doing our best to find whoever is responsible."
