Fire at Rochdale car garage

A fire engine at the bottom of Count Street close to Autocare Rochdale Ltd
Fire-fighters are tackling a fire at a car garage in Rochdale.
The fire service was called at 3.42pm today (Saturday 17 July 2010) after reports of a fire at Autocare Rochdale Ltd, a commercial car garage on Count Street, Rochdale.
At 5.25pm fire-fighters remained at the scene.
Oldham Road and Kingsway are both shut to traffic whilst the fire service monitors the extent of the fire.
At the stage it is not known what started the fire.
It is believed that the building was closed for the weekend with no people inside.
A number of residents have been evacuated and have been given temporary accommodation by Rochdale Council for the night.
