Beech House School
As part of National School Sports Week the school held a sports activity day. Ten different activities, including an agility ladder, golf and shuttle runs, were arranged around the playing field and the sports hall and pupils, led by staff, moved between the different activities. Pupils were scored on their performance and they had been asked to get sponsors, with each sponsor paying a pledged amount for each point gained.
To say that the event was a success would be an understatement, the pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves and at the end were pleading for another similar event next year. It did help that the sun shone brightly, as indeed it has for all our sporting activities over the last two weeks, but pupils very sensibly kept themselves hydrated.
It is hoped that once the sponsor money is in we will have raised up to £1000 for Friends of Beech House. Many thanks to Mr. Hargreaves, Mrs. White and Miss Whitehead for organising the event, the staff who counted and timed the activities and the pupils for all their efforts.
The Nursery pupils were very proud to be featured in the ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’ EYFs and Key Stage 1 book written by Juliette Green. It is published by LCP and photographs of Nursery pupils on their autumn litter hunt and working in pairs on outdoor activities are included.
The Nursery and Reception children have been learning about transport this term. They were very excited to explore a real truck from Mr Mayer and had opportunity to learn about the different parts to a truck.
In the Interschool Prep Athletics the under10 girls did exceptionally well. Vienna Simic won gold in the 200m and silver in the 400m. Jenya Rahman won the silver in the 100m. In the under 8 events bronze medals were won by Joe Noon in the 100m, Yusif Siddique in the 200m and by the relay team of Daisi Daniels, Sara Karim, Joe Noon and Asim Butt. Beech House finished fourth overall.
