New evening treatment room opens for patients

Date published: 12 July 2010

A new District Nurse Treatment Room has opened in Rochdale providing evening appointments to patients across the borough.

District Nurses provide the service from their clinic on Whitehall Street, opposite the Rochdale Infirmary, to offer adults and young people aged over 16 a wide range of care and treatment, including ear syringing, ongoing wound care, leg ulcer management, medication administration and aftercare and advice following surgery.

The first patient through the door, Ellie Hayward, 19, from Heywood said: “It’s a quick and friendly service and has been really convenient as it was easy to get to and I’ve not had to cancel work.”

A number of treatment rooms are available across the borough however, this is the first one to provide evening appointments.

Jackie Taylor, Operational Manager for Adult Nursing at Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Community Healthcare said: “We want to make appointments as convenient as possible for our patients so are piloting the service for three months to see how well it is used and to hear what patients have to say. We hope patients will find it extremely beneficial.”

The service is available by appointment-only on Monday evenings between 7pm and 9pm.
