Students celebrate their achievements in style

Aiden Carney was presented ‘Best Contributory to College Life’ award by John Spindler, Vice Principal.
Hopwood Hall College held its annual ‘Hairdressing and Beauty Student Celebration’ recently. The stylish celebration event took place at ‘East Bar’ in the town centre.
220 students and their guests attended as did a further 30 specially invited staff and guests.
The purpose of the event was to mark the end of the academic year and celebrate the students’ achievements. The evening comprised of award presentations, dancing and also live vocal singing from a local up and coming singer.
On the evening a cheque for £300 was presented from charity fund raising events by the students of the Image Hair & Beauty department to Springhill Hospice. The college has close links with the hospice and students have been raising funds for them for some years.
Some of the winners were: Student Cassie Butterworth, who received the award for’ NVQ Level 3 Student of the Year’; Louise Reilly who won Overall Image student of the year (see picture); Aiden Carney was presented ‘Best Contributory to College Life’ award by John Spindler, Vice Principal.
A spokesperson for the college said: “Overall the event had good reviews; it was an enjoyable evening and had a real buzzing party atmosphere to celebrate the student achievements.
“There are plans to continue and strengthen the links with the Rochdale local venue provider `East bar` for further forthcoming events like the Employer Forums, Hair Shows and other Award presentations.”
