Fire at Holland Street flats

Fire-fighters tackled a blaze in a building containing 28 flats in the early hours of this morning (Friday 9 July 2010).
Fire engines from Rochdale and Littleborough attended the fire on Holland Street at 02.43am.
The fire is believed to have started in a communal lounge on the first floor.
The building is a house containing 28 flats across three floors.
Sixteen people evacuated the building and one person was led to safety by the Fire Service.
Fire-fighters used six breathing apparatus, three hose reels; two door rammits and two nine metre ladders to search the premises to ensure all personnel were accounted for and extinguish a fire in two settees in a communal lounge on the first floor.
Nobody was injured.
The Fire Service left the property at 05.00am.
