National Childminding Week at Littleborough Sure Start Children’s Centre
Littleborough Sure Start Children’s Centre celebrated National Childminding Week this week with lots of noisy activities.
With a ‘reaching the right notes’ theme, there was chance to make musical instruments, sing, explore multicultural instruments and enjoy some tunes together as part of a special event for childminders.
The children and the childminders that look after them tucked into a buffet with foods from around the world such as French bread, Italian pizzas, Indian selection, Greek humus and fruits from many different countries.
National Childminding Week is an annual activity organised by the National Childminding Association. It highlights the range of activities that childminders and nannies do with children and families every day.
This year’s theme is “Reaching the Right Notes”, highlighting the fun learning opportunities that can be had with music in a home-based childcare setting. The theme also reflects the unique environment that home-based childcare provides for families.
Sure Start Childminding co-ordinators Angela O’Neil and Janet Davis also attended.
The event meets the every child matters objectives of enjoy and achieve, be healthy, which the children’s centre work towards.
Katie Hoyle, Senior Early Years Worker said “This event was really successful the children loved trying foods from around the world. It promises to be a really positive morning where children could explore musical sounds and multicultural activities.”
One childminder added “This was a fabulous day of making musical instruments, play, foods from around the world and then a singing session. The children enjoyed every moment.”
