The Leavers BBQ was an enormous success, the weather was very kind and the whole event has raised over £500 for the PTA. This will allow them to continue the work support the fun activities for all the children. We still have plans to install a fitness trail on the school field as soon as we have raised enough money.

All children should have brought home their school report on Friday, and copies have been sent to parents who live away, if requested. Please can you return the yellow slip to acknowledge receipt of the report for our records.

Sports Day went ahead on time, without a hitch, and without a visit from the foxes! It was a little bit cold for the spectators – a real drop in temperature after the glorious sunshine.

Next week is very busy; On Monday Years 5 and 6 are taking part in a ‘Tour de France Day’ no worries, the children do not need their bikes! However, children are welcome to come to school on their bicycles, as long as they have helmet and bike lock.

Tuesday is Primary Transition Day for Year 6 pupils who are transferring to Rochdale secondary schools ONLY.

Thursday is School Picnic Day, we need keep fingers crossed for sunshine. Friday Year 6 are going to have a Community Cohesion Day with Shawclough Primary School. All transport is arranged and our children will be spending time taking part in activities at Hollingworth Lake.

Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Award last week:

Reception: Alexander Burrows and Jessica Johnson
Year 1: Lauren Taylor
Year 2: Alex Lee
Year 3: Jodie Maguire
Year 4: Christopher Hoyle
Year 5: Megan Bottomley
Year 6: Christopher Schofield

Best Attendance Cup was awarded to Year 6.

The week beginning 19th July is the final week in school. The Evening Performance of the Year 5 and 6 play is on Tuesday, starting at 6.30pm. Tuesday is also the Year 4 Trip to Manchester United. All pupils in Year 4 should have brought home a letter. The cost of the trip has been pegged at £10 thanks to a generous subsidy from the PTA.

Finally, well done to Megan Bottomley’s parents who won the questionnaire draw.
