RO reader joins ladies for midnight walk

A Rochdale Online reader is the latest person to sign up the Springhill Hospice Midnight Walk.

Sharon Taylor, 30, of Woodbine Street, Rochdale, decided to join many other women in the 13 mile walk which will take place next weekend.

Sharon said: “I read the story on Rochdale Online and I thought, I want to give this ago, it is a worthy cause and something I would like to take part in.”

Sharon has never done any fundraising before but feels she may have the ‘fundraising bug.’

“I have signed up with my friends, there are about nine of us doing it in total and we are all really looking forward to it. I think it is a nice thing to do and something different,” added Sharon.

Sharon hasn’t set a fundraising target but said she hopes people will sponsor her.

“I don’t know what to expect with regards to the sponsorship so I haven’t set a target, I hope to raise as much as possible. It doesn’t matter how big or small the donation is as anything will help.”

The walk takes place on Saturday 17 June. The ladies will set off from the Middleton Arena and head back to Rochdale via Heywood.

Sharon added: “I haven’t done any practice walks, but I am determined and I will complete it even if it takes until the Sunday after!”
