Show your support for Castleton Carnival

Date published: 05 July 2010

The treasurer of Castleton Carnival is appealing for help to keep Castleton Carnival alive as he fears what the future holds for the much loved tradition.

Frank Cryer is urging people to get involved with his years carnival and show their support.

The carnival, which runs from Chesham to Springfield Park, has been a precious tradition in the town for decades.

Frank has decided to appeal through Rochdale Online News for volunteers to get involved in this years carnival which takes place on Sunday 25 July 2010.

Mr Cryer said: “I would like to encourage people to get involved on the day; the success of an event in my eyes depends on the effort made of those people who take part.”

He added: “This year’s organising has been particularly difficult, I want people to come and join otherwise the future of the Castleton Carnival will remain uncertain.

“I know that other carnival committees are having the same problem, I have been to few recently and I have seen that they are struggling.”

Mr Cryer concluded: “If people want to see events like this continue, events which bring people together, whoever they are, for one day a year and have a little bit of fun then they need to join in.”
