Recycling roadshow a hit
Date published: 05 July 2010

A local resident chats to the council’s Dave Woolrich about recycling, rubbish and waste.
Rochdale Borough Council’s Recycle Week roadshow didn’t go to waste with up to a thousand people dropping into the roadshow trailer between 21 and 25 June 2010.
Pitching up at the borough’s major supermarkets, the roadshow trailer became a one stop shop for local residents to ask the council’s household waste experts any questions they had about recycling, rubbish and waste.
Andy Shaw, Rochdale Borough Council’s recycling manager, explained the council wanted the roadshows to be whatever the local residents needed them to be, he said:
“We quickly discovered what people need most is information about what they can recycle, and what rubbish they can put in their bins so they can recycle more.
“Most people generally understand why we need to recycle more, but we want to make everything to do with recycling, rubbish and waste as simple to understand as possible, and we’re always open to new ideas from local people so we can respond to their needs.“
