Thousands raised at Hospice Summer Gala

Date published: 02 July 2010

Springhill Hospice’s Summer Gala Day has raised a whopping £6,000.

The summer fair was held last weekend and went down a treat with the people of Rochdale.

The fair had all the usual stalls and raffles but this year there were lots of added attractions including a Bouncy Castle, Coconut Shy, Hook-a-Duck, Splat the Rat and many others.

Pet’s Corner and Donkey Rides proved to be very popular with the children.

Roch Valley Radio played music throughout the day whilst Springhill’s Community Fundraiser, Dean Connaughton, spent the day in the stocks being targeted with wet sponges.

Ian Jenkins, Springhill Hospice Fundraising Manager, said, “The weather was absolutely glorious, in fact it proved to be the hottest day of the year so far, so lots of people came along and there was a really happy, family atmosphere. After we had counted up I am delighted to report that we raised £6,000 on the day. Our thanks go to everybody who attended and to all the people who ran a stall for making that wonderful figure possible.”
