Oulder Hill Community School
A reminder that our International Evening will take place in school on the evening of Thursday 15 July. Building on the successes of the previous two years this promises to be an incredible evening showcasing the very best we have to offer in the way of music, art, dance, drama, food and a variety of other activities and themes from across the world.
The evening starts at 6.00pm and finishes at 8.00pm. Tickets to get into the event are 50p per person or £1.50 for a family of 4 – these are available in school in advance of the evening or you can buy them on the door when you arrive.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors for the evening. So far Copifax have donated £250, Hetherington’s have donated a laser printer to the school, Frankie and Benny’s a £30 voucher, Pizza Hut a £20 voucher, Grosvenor House Group family tickets for a pantomime and Japanese Taiko Drummers and McDonalds at Sandbrook Park some vouchers. We really look forward to seeing you on the night.
Congratulations to the winners of the LRC World Cup quiz, who are Ehsan Wasim, Waqar Shabir, George Armistead and Ellis Taylor.
Last Friday some of our Year 8 and 9 girls entered two trampolining competitions at the Rochdale Sports Festival and won both of them. Congratulations to Rachel Marsden, Katie Lamb, Megan Gomersall, Fern Watson, Eleanor Nunns, Jade Lindsay, Georgia Smith, Danielle Marshall, Leah Scholes, Jessica Dale, Beth Greenwood and Georgina Gough.
At very short notice Miss Stott also decided to enter some of our students in the gymnastics competition, which they also won. A huge well done to Leah Scholes, Georgia Smith, Jade Lindsay, Rachel Marsden and Megan Gomersall.
Congratulations must also go to our Year 8 football team who also took part in the Rochdale Sport Festival. The team played superbly and every player put in a great amount of effort. In total, 14 schools from all over the Rochdale borough participated in this one day tournament and our boys managed to go all the way to the final, winning it to become this year’s champions.
We would like to congratulate all the players on their effort and commitment and the excellent behaviour they displayed on the day. The team was Sam Fitton, Joe Whitworth, Connor Fitton, Ben Ratu, Reece Jones, Oliver Fenton, Abdul Shahid and Martin Miller.
