Golden book awards

Congratulations to class 5 for excellent attendance.
Congratulations to all classes 6 for winning the excellent behaviour award.
A special congratulations to all of the children who received their First Holy Communion last Sunday. The children were all very respectful and well behaved.
Parents and Families, Please note for future reference that as a sign of respect and being in church photography during the service is not allowed.

Our annual Sports Awards ceremony took place on Friday 18 June. Thankyou to everyone who took part and thankyou to our honoured guests for joining us, Simon Danczuk MP, Jim Dobbin MP, The Mayor of Rochdale Zulfiqar Ali, Sue Eastwood and Trevor Fox from the Rochdale school improvement team, Julie Roberts, Manager of our Sports Partnership and school governors. 17 children received certificates from Liverpool John Moores University as recognition of their contribution to their community as being especially good and caring citizens.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Hickman who received sports coaching awards and Miss Rachel Pinto ( class 3 teacher ) who received a ‘David Alton’ Citizenship award. Congratulations to all those who received certificates and trophies for both citizenship and for sports. Special Congratulations to Rosie Kelly for receiving the Rochdale Childer Award for 2010.

What’s on in the next few weeks?

  • Fencing lessons for Class 4 Tuesday 29 June
  • First Communion thanksgiving Mass 9.15am on Wednesday 30 June. This will take place in the school hall. The children who made their first communion are invited to wear their Sunday best outfits for a second time. Families are welcome to join in for the occasion.
  • Ten children from year 3 and ten from year 4 at the sports partnership athletics Olympic games on Tuesday afternoon 29 June.
  • Year 4 music performance on violins and cellos 1.15pm Thursday 1 July. Again parents are invited to join us in the hall for this special event.
  • Asian Fuzion music jazz performance in the hall 2pm on Tuesday 6 July. Parents are welcome to come along.
  • School Family Disco – 6 till 8pm Tuesday 6 July
  • Classes 3 and 5 to Chester Zoo on Wednesday 7 July
  • Leavers’ assembly at 9.15am on Thursday 15 July
  • Leavers’ mass at 1.30pm same day as above. All are welcome to join us in the hall for this.

Building work

Major building work is planned to start at school on Monday 18 October. The work will continue for at least 52 weeks. Arrangements are being made for the decant of children as the work is done. Please take advance notice though that the Foundation stage (Nursery and Reception ) will be closed to children for one week 18 to 22 October 2010.

I will send out more information to parents as soon as it becomes available in relation to the planned building work and extension to the school.
