Date published: 21 June 2010

Love Food Hate Waste (LFHW) is running a competition to find some of the best ‘leftover’ recipes in Greater Manchester.

Ideas for snacks, starters, mains or desserts are welcome for the competition, which is open until 23 July 2010 to anybody over 16. Winners will receive an LFHW cookbook.

Rochdale Borough Council’s recycling manager, Andy Shaw, said: “We’re really pleased the Love Food Hate Waste campaign is helping local people enjoy more of their food, save money and help the environment too.”

I’m certain this cookbook competition will uncover some leftover culinary geniuses from our borough.”

LFHW is a campaign provides practical tips and advice to help us make the most of re-using food

Emma Marsh, from LFHW, said: “We can save around £50 a month simply by using the food we have already bought. This competition intends to highlight how easy it is to use leftovers and still have great tasting food at no extra cost.”

Those interested can enter online at www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com and to upload their recipes.
