Tesco trainees clean up canals and work in woods

Tesco workers volunteered in a canal clean-up in Castleton
Trainees studying at Hopwood Hall College as part of the Tesco Local Employment Partnership Scheme tidied up a canal in Castleton and dug out a footpath for Healey Dell Countryside Rangers in Alkrington Woods as they prepared for their new jobs.
In addition, they helped the Rangers with environmental clean-ups, creating habitats for wildlife.
Other participants did a charity ‘bag pack’ for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign at Tesco’s in Silk Street, raising over £425 for the charity.
The scheme revealed that feedback from participants has been fantastic. Many participants said that it has given them a much needed sense of purpose and it has built their confidence. They claim to have made lifelong friends.
