RBH wins International Safety Award

Date published: 15 June 2010

Staff from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) joined leading organisations from the world of health and safety to celebrate their success in winning an International Safety Award.

Following an independent adjudication, the organisation was awarded by the British Safety Council, a health and safety body. RBH has now won the award for six consecutive years.

More than 900 guests from around the world came together at the annual International Safety Awards ceremony and banquet at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday 21 May 2010 to celebrate achievements in health and safety.

Julie Nerney, chief executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated the winning organisations: “This is the British Safety Council's 52nd International Safety Awards banquet which provides us with the opportunity to congratulate both those here with us tonight and all of the unseen heroes - those winning organisations unable to join us at tonight's celebration and the thousands of workers who have played their part in managing risk to their own and their colleagues' health and safety in the workplace. Well done.”

In order to win this award, an organisation must demonstrate that it has comprehensive health and safety policies in place, as well as safe and healthy working practices at its heart.

Guests at the banquet were treated to a four-course dinner and cabaret show featuring the ‘Best of British’ entertainment acts, before dancing to a live band. There were performances from Status dance group, finalists on Sky1 show Got to Dance, yo-yo juggler Arron Sparks, the Kangaroos gymnastics team, Kaos football, and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, star of last year’s Royal Variety Performance.
