Date published: 15 June 2010
A man has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after two children were locked in a car for over an hour on Yorkshire Street in Rochdale.
It is believed the children wrote 'help' on the window of the hot car to attract the attention of a passer by.
A police spokesperson said: “At 4.25pm on Friday 11 June 2010, police were called by the fire service to Yorkshire Street, Rochdale following reports a six-year old boy and a 10-year-old girl had been left in a car.
“They were taken to hospital as a precaution but released a short time later.
“A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and was released on bail until 1 July 2010 pending further inquiries.”
A council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident and the details have been forwarded to Children's Social Care for consideration.”
