Award nominations for Rochdale care staff
Date published: 15 June 2010
Staff from Continuum Care and Education Group, the Rochdale-based children’s care company, have been honoured for outstanding contribution to social care and named as regional nominees in Reed’s Carer of the Year Awards. They will be recognised at an award ceremony in Manchester.
Nominated by staff and users of the Continuum Group’s specialist care homes and schools in the North West, each nominee was singled out as an ‘exceptional individual’ who delivers outstanding care and support that continuously improves the quality of life for the young people they work with.
Trisha Matthews, Care Manager, nominated Patrick Pratt, who works with young people at a complex needs home in Rochdale.
She said: “I nominated Patrick because of his dedication to his role and the exceptional work he has done with young people as well as the extra work he does with our Family Support Service.
“Aside from his work with Continuum, Patrick also did a considerable amount of fundraising recently for an orphanage in Kenya and arranged a trip over to work as a volunteer for a month. I am delighted that the good work he does is to be acknowledged and rewarded.”
Also nominated was Wayne Cooper, a PE tutor at various Rochdale schools, for his dedication to teaching pupils about sport, health and fitness.
Regional winners will be announced on 17 June and the national event takes place on 2 September 2010 in London at The Waldorf Hotel.
