Charity searches for daredevils ready to ‘jump4kids’

A children’s charity who fundraise in aid of children’s wards and neo-natal units across the region is appealing for daredevil volunteers to throw themselves thousands of feet out of an airplane.

MedEquip4Kids raises money to provide medical equipment and improve facilities for hospitals and community health teams to help ensure children and babies receive the best possible care when sick or injured.

On Saturday 9 October, it is hosting Jump4Kids to celebrate its 25th anniversary and aiming to have 35 people all jumping on the same day for the same cause. More than £12,000 is expected to be raised in total as participants jump 14,000ft out of the plane near Grange over Sands freefalling 5,000ft strapped to a parachute instructor.

Registration is £50 and each participant is asked to raise £320 in sponsorship.

MedEquip4Kids’ Rachel Allen said: “Parachute jumps are one of our regular fundraisers with people jumping on our behalf throughout the year. However, this is the first year we have organised a specific event where everyone jumps on the same day, so we are hoping there is going to be a great atmosphere as everyone is there for the same reason.”
