Three more acts have been added to the line-up for the Rochdale Feel Good Festival.
The Travelling Band, who played at last year’s event, will return to play the main stage as well as a special warm up show on the Friday evening. The six-piece group from Manchester will play a blend of cosmic-country-pop, folk, and bar band.
They will be joined by Ellen and the Escapades, winners of the 2010 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition, who will be playing the main stage at Glastonbury this month before making their Rochdale debut.
Their first record is set for release this summer and their distinctive alternative folk sound is already attracting the attention of national radio. They are influenced by acts such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne.
Singing sensation Catherine Tyldesley will be performing classical songs at Touchstones on the Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old, whose voice has been described as ‘sumptuous and magical’, is also well-known for playing the lead role in the BBC1 drama ‘Lilies’ and will soon be on our screens again in the BBC1 medical drama ‘Holby City’. Prior to her festival appearance Catherine will be appearing at a special warm-up show on 17 July at the Heywood Civic Centre.
The trio of acts will join festival headliners ‘The Lightning Seeds’, ‘The Herbaliser’ and pop singer Kirsty Almeida.
Event Organiser Debbie O’Brien said that this year’s line-up is looking like the best yet:“The Travelling Band went down phenomenally well last year, and they jumped at the chance to come back. With more acts still to be announced, we already have a fabulous line up, with something for everyone. Whatever you’re into they’ll be something for you at the festival, and a chance to see something new.”
In addition to a full programme of live music, the free festival will include a food tent and two-day market. Celebrity chefs Gino D’Acampo and Aazam Ahmad will appear in the festival’s celebrity kitchen.
The Rochdale Feel Good Festival will be staged on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 August.
