Twitter workshop for new businesses
Date published: 14 June 2010
Businesses in their first three years of trading in Rochdale are being invited to attend a free workshop examining social networking website Twitter.
The three hour event is being held by business support agency Blue Orchid to provide practical guidance on key areas of online marketing.
The workshop will take place on June 30 at 5.30pm in the Unique Business Centre.
Blue Orchid managing director and Rochdale spokesperson Heather Hayes said: “The Twitter workshop is an ideal way to learn how to capitalize on social media and develop vital skills to help grow your business,” she said.
“Twitter is rapidly growing as a business tool and gaining momentum as a promotional medium. However, a recent survey by Sage UK found that 8 out of 10 firms are missing sales and customer engagement opportunities by not using social networking sites. The event is aimed at people from all backgrounds who want to learn how to create a Twitter page, update it regularly and expand their online presence.”
Mrs Hayes says the purpose of Blue Orchid’s workshop is to encourage new businesses to think about how they can develop their firm.
“Social media provides small businesses with a chance to engage with and educate their customers,” she said.
“Learning about Twitter will enable business owners to build their online profile and promote their offerings. Twitter could develop your business and provide a competitive edge against similar businesses. The event is publicly funded, free and available to anyone who has set up a new business in Rochdale.”
