Rochdale urged to recycle

Date published: 14 June 2010

To promote Recycle Week between 21 and 27 June Rochdale Council will run a roadshow to help answer any queries that residents have about recycling and rubbish.

Rochdale Borough Council’s recycling manager Andy Shaw, said: “We want our Recycle Week roadshows to reflect the needs of local people. People can drop in and get answers to their recycling, rubbish and waste questions, and it’s great for us as we can meet people face to face and better understand their issues and what communications they need from us in the future.

“We know it can be confusing about what can be recycled and what can’t, and what rubbish can go in bins. Hopefully the roadshows will help make things much clearer for people.”

The roadshows will occur as follows between 10.00am and 3.00pm:

  • Monday 21 June - Asda car park, Rochdale
  • Wednesday 23 June - Morrison’s car park, Heywood
  • Thursday 24 June - Co-op car park, Milnrow
  • Friday 25 June - Outside the Tesco and Co-op mini markets

In addition, those who recycle electricals at their nearest household waste centre will be entered into a free draw to win a clock radio, an iPod dock and an eco-kettle.

Last year Rochdale residents recycled a third of all waste.
