Man charged over Littleborough assault

A man has been charged after a taxi driver was assaulted in Littleborough.

Daniel Joseph Anthony Doherty, aged 20, of Todmorden Road, Bacup, is charged with attempted robbery and is due before Rochdale Magistrates' Court on Friday 11 June 2010.

At about 1.45am on Friday 7 May 2010, the 31-year-old taxi driver picked up a number of men near the Uncle Sam's pub  and drove onto Drake Road, Littleborough.

He was told to stop and was punched in the face by one of the group. He was also threatened and told to hand over either cash or cigarettes.

The driver was able to push his attacker out of the car and drove off.
