Fun for Heywood Probus Club

Date published: 10 June 2010

Heywood Probus Club had a day in Liverpool on Tuesday 8 June and took in many sights along the way.

The party of 48, including wives and friends of members, went to Ness Gardens, St. George’s Hall, where member Geoff Ogden played the organ, Palm House and Septon Park, and then finished the day with a three course meal at Grange Park Golf Club in St Helens.

Ian Sturrock, 67, said: “It was a busy but excellent day. The weather started off poor but towards the evening it became pleasant when we sat down for dinner in the evening.”

Heywood Probus Club is open to retired or nearly retired businessmen in the area and meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month and the fifth Tuesday it applies.

“There are 45 in our group, which is governed by the size of the meeting room. But in this way you get to know each other and maintain contact,” added Ian, who has lived in Norden, Rochdale for over 30 years now since moving from County Durham.
