We are delighted to welcome Robin Graham into school this week as he leads a Laughter Therapy Session for staff. Robin is a poet and ‘Laughter Facilitator’ with the ‘Yes
Foundation’. We hope that staff will enjoy the experience and share new techniques with
pupils too.
Tickets for our forthcoming Music Concert on the 28th June are now on sale from the CEPA Office priced at £3.00 for adults and £1.50 for children. The evening will feature a range of musical pieces and groups from across the school and should offer a pleasant evening of entertainment for all the family.
We are delighted to host a ‘Sing Up’ Experience Day for pupils from our local primary
schools on Thursday 24th June. Year 5 pupils will experience a range of Drama, Dance,
Singing and Music Technology lessons and work alongside some of our Arts Learning
Champions.
Letters for our Drama Summer School have been sent out to pupils. If you receive a letter then we would appreciate a prompt reply as we would like to allocate places as soon as possible. The week long Summer School features a visit to the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, and a visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park to work with an artist. The theme for the week is ‘Behind The Scenes’ and the activities take a look at technical theatre.
A Script Writing Competition is open to all pupils in all years this week and will be open until mid July. The Drama Department is inviting entries from pupils and a great prize is on offer. For more details and an entry form, please see Mr. DeCourcey in the CEPA office at breaktimes or lunchtime.
20 pupils from Year 8 Language Classes attended a Taster Day at Manchester University on June 9th and experienced learning a variety of languages. Year 10 pupils studying French and Spanish attended a Master Class at Bury College on June 10th to boost their language skills.
The European visit in 2011 to Spain has this week been launched with pupils in years 7, 8 and 9.
The winning and highly commended entries for the languages 2010 World Cup competition are now on display in the languages section of school and prizes and certificates have been awarded this week in assembly.
