Castleton car wash plans passed
Date published: 08 June 2010
Plans to change a car sales premises into a hand car wash facility in Castleton have been passed.
The owners of the site at the junction of Bridge Street and Manchester Road applied for planning permission to change the use of the premises.
Rochdale Planning Sub Committee passed the plans subject to certain conditions relating to opening hours, entrance to the car wash and a water disposal scheme.
The planning committee came to the conclusion that the change of use wouldn’t largely affect the visual amenity of the area, generate unacceptable levels of noise or impact on highway safety.
However, Councillor Ted Flynn of the Planning Sub Committee and Castleton representative isn’t pleased that the plans got the go ahead, he said: “It is detrimental to the amenities of the area. I think it is an atrocious development and it isn’t fit for purpose.”
One objection was made from the owner of a block of flats close to the site, he didn’t attend the meeting nor did the applicant.
At the time of publication no other committee members were available for comment.
