The Filter House, Watergrove was awarded a commendation in its category
Some of Rochdale’s best local construction projects have been recognised at the recent Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards.
The annual North West Region Building Excellence Awards ceremony was held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton.
Entry was open to all contracts which have used the local authority building control process. Awards covered a variety of buildings and categories ranged from small domestic extensions and individual houses to multimillion pound commercial, education and healthcare developments.
Finalists from the Rochdale borough were:
- Best Social Housing Development for St Lukes Court designed by Michael Hyde Associates built by ROK.
- Best Technical Development at Heady Hill Road designed by AJ Cocker Associates built by the Building Trades Agency.
- Best Large Commercial Development for Middleton Arena designed by the Building Design Partnership built by Barr Construction.
- Best Small Housing Development at Norden Chimney designed by Hall Needham Associates built by Holroy Developments.
- Best Education Development for Middleton Technology School designed by The Fairhurst Design Group built by Wates Construction.
- Best Conversion for the development at The Filter House, Watergrove designed by Ferguson Developments and built by J Clarke.
The Filter House, Watergrove was awarded a commendation in its category.
Mark Dalzell, Building Control Manager at Rochdale Borough Council said he was pleased to see so many finalists from the borough: “The competition was very strong, so although we didn’t win this time, one of our projects was commended and I think the awards showed that there are some excellent developments in the borough … we will be submitting more nominations next year.”
