Rochdale and District Motor Club present the £500 cheque
Rochdale and District Motor Club has donated £500 to Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team.
Graham Dalley, chairman of the mountain rescue organisation said: “It came out of the blue. They rang up and said that they had raised the money for us.”
The mountain rescue team, which operates in some parts of Rochdale requires £25,000 annually in running costs and has on occasion picked up casualties from motocross accidents.
“People normally tell us that they will raise money for us and they usually buy things for us, like Land Rovers. This was not earmarked for anything and they had the money ready to give us, so we can put it towards running costs. It’s fantastic.”
The Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team assist injured walkers, runners and climbers and help search for vulnerable people in collaboration with the police.
