Spring Spectacular at Gracie Fields Theatre
The Rochdale Youth Orchestra recently performed their Spring Spectacular at Gracie Fields Theatre. The programme included Beethoven and Abba to name but a few.
The Junior Orchestra played their ‘Pots and Pans’ chorus with spoons and pans to make an anvil sound.
Musical Director Sue Ryder commented: “The children always rise to the occasion on these concert nights - they all thoroughly enjoyed the evening.”
The Senior Orchestra included performances from Ruth Betteridge and a flugel horn solo by Beth Howarth.
Guests for the night were students from Meanwood CP School, who performed their own show and then joined the members of the orchestra, with popular renditions such as ‘Rule Britannia’ and ‘Jerusalem’ sang to a flag-waving audience.
