School is now closed for half term. We will reopen on Monday 7 June at the normal time. We are now in exam season, with GCSE and A level exams fully up and running. Please support your child in preparing for their exams by helping them to revise. Please note that Year 11, 12 and 13 lessons are still taking place for those subjects in which the exam has not yet taken place. We would like to wish everyone a happy and relaxing break.

On Wednesday 26 May the Drama Showcase took place in the Gracie Fields Theatre. The evening showcased the work and talent of both the Year 10 and Year 11 GCSE Drama classes. Well done to all involved and thank you to all who attended in making the evening enjoyable and successful.

On a cold snowy day in January the Key 103 bus rolled into Oulder Hill to give 35 Year 10 students the opportunity of making their very own radio advert for the brand new 6th Form College opening in September. From the 15 different adverts made the lucky four selected as winners and given the opportunity to spend the day at Key 103 mixing with the stars and creating a real advert were:- Mobeen Arshad, Keiran Patel, Spencer Rathbone and Austin Orton.

The boys started the day at Key 103 with a tour of the building, followed by watching Mike and Chelsea for some last minute hints and tips and finally they had to create and record their very own radio advert for the 6th Form College. Once again the boys excelled themselves and their advert impressed the people at Key 103 and Mr Tony Day, Assistant Principle at Rochdale 6th Form College so much, that it is going to be played on Key 103 over the next couple of weeks to help promote the college across the whole of the North West. Keep your eyes peeled as these boys are well on their way to radio stardom!

Last weekend an intrepid group of six Oulder Hill Mathematics teachers went to great lengths (10KM to be exact) to inspire their students. The team took functional maths to the limits by participating in the BUPA Great Run in Manchester on Sunday 16 May, and in the process raised for charity. In the run up to the race students were busily calculating speeds, distances and averages and also predicting their teachers’ finish times and order, a demonstration of what fun the subject can be. In taking on this challenge Oulder Hill’s maths teachers hope to have shown that they too find some things challenging but hard work, and that determination (and suffering) can lead to success. They collected over £450 sponsorship money which will be donated to McMillan and Christies.
