Date published: 24 May 2010
Six parents from Meanwood Sure Start Children’s Centre received certificates after completing an Employability Skills, which they can now show to future employers.
The workshops were interactive and gave the group chance to improve their Curriculum Vitae’s, as well as complete some tasks that involved problem solving and team work together.
Tracie Taylor, parent empowerment worker said: “The feedback from the group was extremely positive both about the course and about Helen Maxwell from Hopwood Hall College who delivered it.”
The sessions work towards the children’s centre aim of achieving economic wellbeing for families in equipping parents with skills to gain employment or to go onto further training.
Sara, a parent and one of the group members said: “It was a great course; I just wish it was longer!”
Hopwood Hall College delivered the course at the children’s centre which was aimed at improving and enhancing the parent’s chance of gaining employment.
