Date published: 24 May 2010
Manchester Airport was closed to all inbound and outbound traffic due to a security risk today.
An airport employee said: "I received a message to say that the airport has been closed following security issues.
He added: " I understand that climate change protestors broke through a security fence in the cargo area at the airport and have now surrounded an Airbus A33.
"I did see protestors at the cargo area of the airport as I was coming into work."
