Marie Curie Cancer Care - Blooming Great Tea Party
Date published: 18 May 2010
Rochdale Support group for Marie Curie Cancer Care, sponsored by the Crimble, held their second fabulous, fundraising afternoon tea with tea/coffee, sandwiches, scones and delicious cakes.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, Councillor Keith Swift and Ms Sue Etchells attended on what is their last assignment in Rochdale before their year's term comes to an end.
Mayor Swift said: "It is wonderful to once again see the good people of Rochdale supporting this important charity; there are even more people here this year than last year.
"The Rochdale Support Group has already raised over £100,000 and with this level of support it won’t be long before the £200,000 mark is reached, and that is a credit to everyone involved."
All money raised enables Marie Curie nurses to provide care for terminally ill patients in their own homes free of charge.
The event was orgainised by Diane Page, a member of The Crimble management team. General Manager Chris Lowe said: "It is a great charity to help out which is why we have chosen to support Marie Curie Cancer Care on an ongoing basis. Diane and the staff have done a superb job organising the event."
Ms Page added: "Chef Stuart Haigh has, as usual, served excellent food including some marvellous cakes."
