Defeated Islam Zinda Baad candidate speaks out

Date published: 17 May 2010

A big thank you to you, Rochdale Electorate, especially the 545 who voted for Islam Zinda Baad on 6 May.

I should be grateful if you will permit me to make several observations following the General Election.

First the newly elected Rochdale MP will be a lame duck, just like his predecessor, because he will not enjoy full support, or access to government ministers, since his Labour Party is now out of government. Again it will be Rochdale and its people who will lose out, in securing some prosperity. As I mentioned in my speech at the declaration of results, the problem of North-South divide of the UK, where the North is suffering from lack of investment and jobs, while the South is enjoying prosperity from investment and plenty of jobs.

Second, Mr Blair lost the election for the Labour party, as he reignited the healing wounds of lies and unnecessary Iraq war.

Third Mr Jeremy Thorpe Leader of the Liberal Party in 1974 turned down Mr Edward Heath for coalition on grounds of principle, despite Mr Heath offering cabinet positions, but there was no PR (Proportional Representation electoral system) on the table, whereas Mr Clegg has shown to have no principles but desire for power at any cost.

The British electorate did not vote for a coalition government. I suppose Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg will learn the hard way, just as the Labour-Liberal Pact goverment suffered at the polls for 20 years under Mrs Thatcher and her successors.

Fourth, Rochdale became victim of tactical voting by the ethnic minority groups in Rochdale who succeeded in splitting the vote, while mobilising it for two separate factions, the Raee Biradari and Kashmiri Biradari, without a second thought on policies or effect on Rochdale or its community, or its ethnic minority community groups. However, if the ethnic minority can mobilise for main political parties, they can mobilise to elect their own community member as MP, if only they were to unite.

Fifth, what makes me laugh at the insult dashed out by the new coalition government is a spending cut of 5% of minister’s wages, it is a mere drop from a ocean. Surely this is a start of shear hypocrisy of laughable policies to come, perhaps.
