Foster Care Fortnight

The fostering team giving out information
Rochdale Borough Council is calling for residents to consider fostering as Foster Care Fortnight is launched nationally today, 17 May.
Foster Care Fortnight is an annual campaign to raise awareness of fostering and promote the urgent need to recruit more foster carers in the UK.
The council’s fostering team, and their ‘Picture this’ campaign, will be touring the borough throughout the fortnight holding information days at various venues, to give people who picture themselves as foster carers the chance to find out more.
Steve Garner, Head of Children’s Social Care at Rochdale Borough Council said: “There are over 250 children currently living with foster families across the borough, but there are still more children who need local homes. Fostering is a challenging role to take on but it really makes an enormous difference to a child’s life. We really hope residents phone us to follow up their interest in fostering or come along to one of the information days and find out how they can help.”
