Paul Rowen says thank you
Date published: 12 May 2010
Paul Rowen MP
Five years ago I was given the privilege and honour to serve the people of Rochdale as your Member of Parliament.
I would like to express my thanks to those people who voted and supported me last Thursday.
I would especially like to thank my campaign team led by Adam Power, the Council group led by Irene Davidson and the scores of back room volunteers including Vivian Coburn and my Mum who have helped to stuff thousands of envelopes and write thousands of letters. Without them there would have been no campaign.
I would also like to express my thanks to my staff especially Sue and Ann in the constituency office and Kriss in London who have worked tirelessly to ensure constituents concerns were dealt with.
Rochdale faces many problems and challenges. The last thirteen years of New Labour have delivered little. We now have a new era of coalition politics both at Local and National level. I hope it delivers the change which the people of Rochdale so richly deserve.
I would also like to thank the many people who have contacted me since last Thursday for their kind words and support. They are very much appreciated.
For my part I intend to spend the next few months spending some quality time with my family before deciding what future direction to go. I do, however, remain immensely proud of Rochdale and what we were able to achieve together.
Best wishes,
Paul Rowen
