Deeplish Primary School

Why was the school hall a mass of green, red and white on Wednesday? Well, it was the first of our themed lunches, this one about the food from Italy. Pasta with a choice of sauces, spaghetti with tuna and Italian trifle were amongst the dishes on offer. Thankyou Mrs Doolan and your staff for all your efforts.

Mrs Davis went to the final Children’s Forum for this year with Wessaf and Lana from Year 5. Along with children from 6 other schools they looked at the final plans for the rebuild of the main part of Rochdale town centre. They also put forward suggestions as to what they would like for children in the part that hasn’t been finalised yet. Safer and more places to play came out on top. Thank you Wessaf and Lana, it has been a pleasure to be with you at these meetings. You have been a credit to yourselves and the school!
The sailing tuition carried on this week for some of our year 4 children at Hollingworth Lake and was just as enjoyable as last week.

Key Stage 1 gymnastics club is also looking very enjoyable. The children are learning lots from their coach and the standard of their ability is very high. Well done.

Our year 4 children have been quietly getting along with their swimming for a long while now at Rochdale baths. Well done to Miss Kelly’s group who have made great strides improving their confidence in the water. Also congratulations to Nouman and Muzamil who can now swim without armbands.

Attendance champions of the week were Mrs Akhtar’s and Mrs Vickers’ classes. Early birds were Mrs Afzal’s and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes. Yet again everyone in Mrs Campbell-Starling’s class arrived on time every day. Congratulations to Rabia and Abdurrahman for winning the prizes for 100% attendance.

Finally, we would like to wish all the children in years 2 and 6 good luck in their SATs. They have all been working extremely hard. Deeplish School is very proud of them and know they will do their best. Good luck also to children in the other year groups who are also doing tests, these are just as important for you. Thank you to all members of staff who have helped in whatever way they have to prepare all the children for these tests. Deeplish School has great teamwork!
