Thank you to the Cardinal Langley Sports Partnership for organising a great football competition for Year 6 boys for 9 local schools. Our boys, whilst they didn’t win a match, played extremely well. Their sportsmanship and teamwork were superb. You were credit to yourselves and the school. Well done, boys!

Thursday was a really busy day for activities. Foundation and Key Stage 1 had a noisy day playing African Drums. Matt, from the Education Group Company, talked to all of the children about the drums and they had a great time banging out rhythms.

6 children from Mrs Isherwood’s class, accompanied by Ms Burrow and Mrs Saleem went to Hollingworth Lake to learn how to sail. This, Ms Burrow said, was a fabulous event. It was organised through Link4life and is Lottery funded. The course lasts for 5 weeks. What made it even nicer was that it was a beautiful day which created a wonderful picture as the children sailed away in to the distance!

Gym Club for Key Stage 1 started on Thursday night and it was very well attended. The children really enjoyed themselves and learned a lot about the importance of warming up and different gymnastic activities.

The School Council had another meeting on Thursday lunchtime. Welcome to Al Ashkaf who is taking Yasir’s place. Mira has now taken over as Vice Chairperson. Good luck to both of you. The children were shown the plans for the school refurbishment by Mr Dysch and were extremely interested in them. The plans then went to Mrs Roberts’ and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes for their thoughts. Mrs Davis will be doing a display of the plans and any comments children and staff have made about them. If you have something you would like to say, please see Mrs Davis in school.

On Friday, Mrs Ball who is going to be the new Headteacher of Kingsway Park High School came in to meet our Year 6 children. She talked about the new school and was very impressed with the quality of the questions she was asked.

Mrs Afzal’s and Mrs Isherwood’s classes were the winners of the weekly class Attendance awards. Miss Butterworth’s, Mrs Taylor’s and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes received the Early Bird awards. All children in these classes arrived on time. Come on, everyone else! Sidrah and Aaminah won the weekly 100% attendance prizes. Congratulations!
