Rowen praises Lib Dem economic plans

Date published: 23 April 2010

Rochdale’s Lib Dem Candidate Paul Rowen is praising his party’s policy for a fair and sustainable economy.

Launched on Monday this week, the Lib Dems have focussed on job creation and a green economic stimulus plan to aid the recovery.

They have identified £3.1bn of public spending to be used to create jobs and give millions of opportunities to young people.

Projects include creating more jobs through more off-shore energy programmes and an ‘eco-cashback’ scheme aimed at promoting energy efficiency in homes.

They are also promising training, education or internships for people on jobseekers allowance over 90 days, and bringing up to 250,000 empty homes back into use.

Mr Rowen said: “Liberal Democrats proposals would create more than 30,000 jobs and provide a million opportunities for young people in the UK.

“We are the only party to have produced fully costed proposals to get us back on the road to economic recovery as part of a Liberal Democrat package that would create a fair and sustainable economy.

“Only the Liberal Democrats can produce the real change Rochdale and the North West need.”
