Man violently assaulted by mob

Date published: 19 April 2010

A man was assaulted after a night out in Rochdale.

At 10pm on Monday 5 April 2010, a father, his son and a friend were walking home on Drake Street, when they were attacked by a group of around eight men.

It was the 43-year-old father who was singled out during the attack, receiving a fractured eye socket and a broken nose. He also had his two front teeth knocked out and required stitching to his lip.

It is believed the attack is a result of an argument the son had earlier had with the driver of a silver Vauxhall Corsa on South Parade.

The offenders are described as a group of young, Asian men.

They ran away in an unknown direction.

Detective Constable Richard Shelton said: "This is a shocking incident that has left a man with some terrible injuries.

"A couple of witnesses have already helped us with our inquiries, but we need more information so we can be sure we will catch these men."
