Castleton Railway Station
A man is believed to have jumped in front of a train at Castleton station - British Transport Police have confirmed the fatality.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “BTP officers attended the railway line near to Castleton rail station, on Monday 19 April 2010, after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
"The incident, which was reported to police at 2.04pm, is being treated as non-suspicious and was attended by officers from BTP and Greater Manchester Police.
“Paramedics from Greater Manchester Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The train involved was the 1400 Manchester Victoria to Leeds service.
