Schools get the Fairtrade message
Date published: 14 February 2008
Pupils at schools throughout the borough have been learning all about Fairtrade, in preparation for Fairtrade Fortnight (25 February - 9 March).
Twleve primary schools have been busy designing and decorating pennants for the campaign, which promotes products that give a fair deal to people in the developing world, securing long term trading relationships and a better quality of life for those involved. These are now being made into bunting by Fairtrade Forum members and displayed at events throughout the campaign.
The 12 schools involved are All Souls CE Primary, Belfield Primary, Caldershaw Primary, Hamer Primary, Little Heaton CE Primary, Middleton CE Parish Primary, Shawclough Primary, Springside, St Andrews Primary, St Thomas CE Primary, St Johns RC Primary and Whitaker Moss.
Many schools including Oulder Hill Community School, Whitaker Moss Primary, Caldershaw Primary and St Vincent's RC Primary are also organising their own events including assemblies and coffee afternoons.
