New beat manager for Heywood

Date published: 14 May 2009

Police in Heywood have appointed the new Neighbourhood Constable who will replace PC John Foxcroft as Beat Manager for the Town Centre and Captain Fold areas.

PC Gareth Steward replaces PC Foxcroft, who has been promoted to Sergeant on the North Manchester Division.

PC Steward, who joins PCSO Julie Jefferson, was previously a response officer based at Rochdale and has been a police officer for the past five years.

He said: “I am looking forward to the many challenges that lie ahead and working together with the local community and partners in the Heywood West area. I am keen to get stuck in to the problems in my area to help make them safer places for all of the community.”

Off duty PC Steward is a keen footballer and represents the divisional football team.

Residents of Heywood are reminded of the Police surgery, which takes place every Saturday between 2pm and 4pm at Morrisons supermarket.

PC Steward continued: “Police surgeries are a good way for the public to meet their local officers and to raise any concerns or issues with them. Heywood officers are committed to Neighbourhood Policing and improving the quality of life for those people living and working in the community.
