New police surgery at College

Date published: 13 May 2009

Two Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from Rochdale police will be running a new surgery at Hopwood Hall College.

The surgery has been set up by the PCSOs as a way of talking to and getting to know members of the public both at the college, which includes staff and pupils, and with those living in the town centre area.

PCSO Paul Buckley from Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I decided to set up a surgery at the college as it as an ideal and accessible venue to members of the community. I urge anyone who wants to discuss how their neighbourhoods are policed to attend.”

Inspector Lin Houldershaw said: “Establishing a surgery at the college is a great way of reaching out to the people and makes the police very accessible to young people, it is great to see the PCSO`s taken positive action to work with and for the communities they represent.

“This is something I would like to see continue into the future and is additional surgery on top of those already in place which includes the police room at Rochdale Infirmary and our surgeries at Asda at Dane Street in Rochdale.”

The first surgery takes place next Wednesday (20 May), between 2pm and 5pm.
