Park and ride for Oasis concert
Date published: 13 May 2009
Cars heading for the three Oasis concerts at Heaton Park next month will be directed to a park and ride site off the M62.
Around 210,000 people are expected to visit Heaton Park over the course of the three days of the concerts, on 4, 6 and 7 June.
The gates will open daily at 2pm and those driving to the event will be directed on to the M62 and then off at Junction 19 towards Bowlee recreation ground where a park and ride shuttle to Heaton Park will operate.
The Highways Agency is stressing that there will be no access to the venue from Junction 19 of the M60, the nearest junction to the park, as the A576 Middleton Road from this junction where it runs alongside the venue will be closed.
Andy Withington, from the Highways Agency said: “Clearly people should allow plenty of time for their journeys including time to get from the park and ride site down to Heaton Park.”
